FIDA visit to Wadeshwar Ashamshala in July 2007

Several members of FIDA visited the Wadeshwar Ashamshala for disbursement of FIDA Foundation scholarships for the year 2007-08. In 2009-10, FIDA will continue the scholarships program for further education at Ashram School in Wadeshwar.

1. Continuation of scholarships

An interaction with last year's scholarship holders was held to understand the effectiveness of the scholarship as also problems faced by the students. They expressed that the scholarship really motivated and helped them in pursuing their studies. As all students present at this visit had scored above the requisite 50 % required for continuation of scholarship, their scholarship is continued for the year 2007. Those students who were not present would have to submit copies of their Std XI marks list for continuance of scholarship in the current academic year.

The three toppers of the 2007 batch were felicitated and the scholarship amount was handed over to them. The topper is a girl who scored 76 %.

2. Fun and games for the kids

Aadit, Samir Joshi's son donated his football to the school and also spent two hours introducing the boys to the game. All of them had a great time. It was really moving to see that a simple thing like a football could bring so much of joy in their lives.

3. Funding school requirements

It was decided that FIDA would continue with the initial target of four projects/ year at the school.

An assessment of the immediate requirements that were not too capital intensive was undertaken. The principal shall also be handing over a couple of their immediate needs as perceived by the school, based on which the projects for the next quarter will be finalized.
