Overview
Friends for India’s Development and Assistance (FIDA) is a Non Governmental Organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
Vision
FIDA envisions an India that is based on holistic development of its citizens with
specific emphasis on development through access to quality education, healthcare,
and employment opportunities for needy sections of society.
Mission
FIDA’s mission is two-fold:
- To ensure rural development in an atomistic fashion via the creation of adequate educational
infrastructure and access to disadvantaged and isolated rural community members.
- To leverage initial successes in educational efforts into areas of broader development
such as healthcare access, nutritional education, increase in employability, women’s
rights, and sustainable living.
Purpose
To encourage, develop, fund and implement programs to improve the educational /
nutritional / health / medical and overall standard of living of needy children all over
India. Through the children, FIDA aims at targeting impoverished families for
physical, economic and social empowerment.
History
FIDA was founded by a group of ex students belonging to the 1984- 86 batch of the
Loyola High School and Junior College, Pune, who felt that having attained personal and professional
success in various fields, it is time to make our own contribution to a better society.
It is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that now comprises of over 30 members from different professions and walks of life.
